How Percent to Fraction Conversion Works
Converting a percentage to a fraction is straightforward: place the percentage value over 100 to create a fraction, then simplify it by dividing both the numerator and denominator by their Greatest Common Divisor (GCD). For example, 75% becomes 75/100, and since GCD(75, 100) = 25, the simplified fraction is 3/4.
For decimal percentages like 12.5%, first multiply both the numerator and denominator by a power of 10 to remove the decimal. So 12.5% becomes 125/1000, and after simplification with GCD(125, 1000) = 125, you get 1/8. This method works for any percentage, including repeating decimals.
